Dee Dee Putnam is a smart, inventive 13-year old girl who doesn't think she fits in with the other kids in her school. She prefers to spend time with a mysterious scientist and practice with her remote-controlled flying saucer. However, when she causes fires with a wave of her finger and shatters windows with silent screams, even her teachers think she's a visitor from Mars. Her father knows that DeeDee is struggling to get over the loss of her mother, but when she shaves her head and talks about returning to outer space, he knows he has to do something. But what?
